Learning vs changing

Can learning practical philosophy actually prevent one from making changes for the better?

In this one, I pose and focus on this question: if you want to change the way you act, can learning practical philosophy actually prevent you from doing so?

Or, at least, make it harder for you to do so?

The book I mention is Robert Pfaller’s On the pleasure principle in culture, an amazing work which develops the question of the relation between knowledge and action, highly recommended.
